Staff Award Winner Profile: Lee Streetly

Outstanding Achiever of the Year

Sponsored by

‘This award is for someone who has demonstrated superb qualities and delivered consistently excellent results across their role in the last 12 months.  That one person who has shown themselves to be committed, enthusiastic, innovative, helpful and successful, and who has Diversity Travel’s values at the heart of everything they do.’

This was a hotly contested category with 13 nominees!  And it was no surprise when Lee Streetly’s name was called out.  A deserving winner, Lee is Senior Business Travel Consultant for our Juniper Reservations Team.  We wanted to hear from Lee about how he felt about winning one of our first ever Diversity Travel Staff Awards…

What went through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?

Shock and happiness.  I thought I might get nominated for some and I had been nominated for a previous award but never thought I would actually win one!  There are so many others who have done so well over the last 12 months so it was an honour to be nominated let alone win!!

How long have you been working at Diversity Travel?

I’ve been here just over 4 years now.

What does your job entail?

I am a Senior Business Travel Consultant in the Juniper Team.  So I deal with all the clients that the Juniper Team look after, arranging any travel that these clients need.  I also help out our team manager as and when it’s needed, to manage our central Juniper inbox.

What do you enjoy most about your job?

I really enjoy the difference aspects that every client brings.

“One minute I could be booking a simple hotel in London; and the next I could be arranging a complex trip to Papa New Guinea – having that mix really keeps the workload fresh, challenging, and not at all boring!”

What do you feel is your biggest achievement in life?  And at Diversity Travel?

My biggest achievement in life is definitely convincing my wife to actually marry me – she is amazing and I am definitely punching above my weight!

I am also a bit of a geek when it comes to planes, and one of dreams was to always fly in the upper deck (the bubble) on a Boeing 747.  I managed to do this a few years ago on a Diversity Travel Fam trip and it was amazing, so that has to rank up there!

What did winning the award mean to you?

It was amazing to be recognised and to be made a fuss of in front of all my colleagues was a really nice touch!  The glass award I was given with my name etched on it is something really special, which I will keep forever.  It was great to bring something home to show the family too!

Most importantly, when are you going to use your prize vouchers?! Where will you go?  And what will you do on your trip?

We are hoping to go away to Cape Town in February 2019!  My wife and I never had a honeymoon when we got married 5 years ago as we spent all the money on the wedding and couldn’t afford it.  This shall hopefully be our very delayed honeymoon!

Here’s what our Managing Director Chris Airey had to say,

“Lee has massively helped out his team with his results speak for themselves.   Lee has an unerring work ethic, and is always happy to take on anything regardless of challenge.”

There were 5 categories for individuals at the Diversity Travel Staff Awards, each with a very deserving winner!
