Innovation of the Year Award
‘This award recognises an innovation or idea over the last 12 months that has had a major positive impact on the business.’
We were all delighted to hear the news that Mahmoud had won the Innovation of the Year award at our first ever Diversity Travel Staff Awards (which were voted by us)! Mahmoud is the Team Manager for our in-house Development Team and always has a huge smile on his face.
We caught up with Mahmoud to see how he felt about winning one of Diversity Travel’s first Staff Awards…
What went through your mind when your name was announced as the winner?
Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend the award ceremony, but my colleague accepted the award on my behalf. When I found out, I was very happy and delighted! I wished I’d been there at the party to thank everyone for their support!
How long have you been working at Diversity Travel?
I’ve been at Diversity for 2 years and 3 months. I started at Diversity Travel back in 2015 as a .Net Developer and as our team grew, I worked my way up to being Lead Developer and Team Manager for the Development Team!
What does your job entail?
I’m responsible for the internal development team who work to deliver new IT and development solutions to the business.
What do you enjoy most about your job?
I enjoy the rapid development of our business. We are fast-growing and our requirements keep getting more complex meaning our job stays challenging. I really enjoy working with my team, sharing ideas, thinking about solutions, implementing them, learning from our mistakes, reading about new technologies and thinking how it can be applied to our business.
What was your award-winning idea? Or can you provide a bit more context on the work you’ve done in order to achieve this award?
I can’t say this award has been won for the work of a single person…
The context of the work is our mid-office application, Instaquote, which helps in organising the quoting process at Diversity Travel. This application keeps growing to include many other modules across all business departments and areas – it certainly keeps us on our toes!
What did winning the award mean to you?
It means that the company recognises the vital role that Development Team is playing to ensure that our processes continue to improve, become more automated and more efficient. We work hard to ensure that both our colleagues and clients get a better experience from using our systems.
Most importantly, when are you going to use your prize vouchers?! Where will you go? And what will you do on your trip?
My colleagues Chris and Priestly are thinking of going to Goa to enjoy the beautiful beaches, warm weather and the delicious Goan food.
Here’s what our Managing Director Chris Airey had to say,
There were 5 categories for individuals at the Diversity Travel Staff Awards, each with a very deserving winner!
