Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 250 aircraft via its hub, Hamad International Airport (HIA) to more than 160 destinations worldwide.
A multi-award-winning airline, Qatar Airways was named ‘Airline of the Year’ for the fifth time in the 2019 World Airline Awards, which is managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘World’s Best Business Class,’ ‘Best Business Class Seat,’ and ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’.
The airline continues to grow rapidly and has launched a host of exciting new destinations in 2019, including Lisbon, Malta, Rabat (Morocco), Davao (Philippines) and Izmir (Turkey). It’s most recent addition to Langkawi launched on 16 October 2019, opening its third gateway into Malaysia.
Humanitarian and Charity Fares
Qatar Airways is also a natural choice for Charity and Humanitarian organisations, with an especially large network to Africa. In 2019, the airline launched flights to Mogadishu, Somalia and Gaborone, Botswana. It has recently announced that it will commence flights to Luanda, Angola, in March 2020.
The airline offers special Humanitarian fares bookable through Diversity travel, with more flexible conditions in line with the needs of this specialised field.
Qatar Airways was the first Gulf carrier to join global airline alliance oneworld. This has enabled its passengers to benefit from more than 1,000 airports in over 160 countries, with 14,250 daily departures. Travellers are also able to earn frequent flyer mileage points (on applicable fares) across the alliance.
Qsuite, a patented Qatar Airways product, features the industry’s first-ever double bed in Business Class, as well as privacy panels that stow away. This allows passengers in adjoining seats to create their own private room – a first of its kind in the industry.
Oryx One, Qatar Airways’ in-flight entertainment system, offers passengers up to 4,000 entertainment options from the latest blockbuster movies, TV box sets, music, games and much more. Passengers flying on Qatar Airways flights served by its B787, B777, A350, A380, A319 and select A320 and A330 aircraft can also stay in touch with their friends and family around the world by using the award-winning airline’s on-board Wi-Fi and GSM service.
Economy Class is also ready to receive an exciting enhancement as the airline rolls out its new Economy Class experience, featuring a world-class seat with an innovative 19-degree recline system, additional legroom, dual trays, 13.3-inch 4 K widescreens and type ‘C’ fast charging USB port. The airline’s new in-flight dining experience, ‘Quisine’, redefines Economy Class service, with all new retail-style tableware, a menu offering more choices, 25 percent larger main courses, 20 percent larger appetisers, and 50 percent larger desserts.
Social Responsibility and Sustainability
Qatar Airways is the first airline in the Middle East to secure accreditation to the highest level in the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA) Environmental Assessment programme. Along with the state of Qatar, it is committed to an environmentally sustainable aviation industry.
Whether in First, Business or to “experience Economy like never before”, Qatar Airways looks forward to welcoming passengers onboard and travelling to places together.
