What we’re reading this week

When global events affect your organisation, your Travel Management Company (TMC) can be a vital source of support. Here at Diversity Travel, we want our clients to know that despite the circumstances, we are still very much here to help you every step of the way. That said, while you’re not travelling, we thought it would be interesting to share some of the stories and videos we’ve seen each week – some travel related, some that just make you feel warm and fuzzy!

Heartwarming moment when Ken Benbow received the most thoughtful gift

This is the heartwarming moment a nursing home resident teared up after receiving a pillow printed with a photograph of his late wife. Ken was given the gift by a carer at the Thistleton Lodge care home.

Ken Benbow, who was married for 71 years, slept with a photograph of Ada by his bed at his Preston care home. Originally from Oswestry, Shropshire, he served in the Navy during World War Two.

“We were married for 71 years and it broke my heart when she left me, but now I’ve got her every night in my arms.” he said.

Shropshire NHS superheroes keep spirits up with dance routines

NHS workers from Shropshire have been keeping spirits up by soaring into online stardom with their dancing skills.

Staff at hospitals across the region have been raising a smile by sharing videos made on wards during the coronavirus crisis.

Among those viewed thousands of times are TikTok clips from Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital in Telford where staff performed energetic routines to Blinding Lights by The Weeknd.

Qatar Airways still flying

Our friends at Qatar Airways are continuing to fly the skies where possible – they’re still offering around 25% total capacity. Over the last few weeks, they have provided opportunities for people to fly back to their home countries and their cargo operation have been instrumental in facilitating shipment of medical supply globally.  We love their #TakingYouHome campaign.

Happy Birthday to Her Majesty The Queen.

To mark her 94th birthday, Buckingham Palace released some unseen footage of the Queen as a child. The video was shared on the Royal Family’s Twitter account with music and a message saying: ‘To those of you also celebrating your birthdays today at home, with or without your loved ones – we send you many happy returns’

Maintaining business continuity for our clients

During these difficult times, Diversity Travel remains committed to delivering exceptional travel management services to our clients. We believe that the measures we have in place will enable us to continue our operations both during and after the current situation, without impacting the quality of support.

Diversity Travel are still here 24/7 to support you and any questions you might have.

A TMC you can rely on

With the steps we have taken, and the in-house experience we are able to rely on, we are confident we will maintain the same high standards of service and essential support to our clients at this challenging time.

Our team is available by phone and video conference to support your changing plans, and we look forward to supporting you as we find the ‘new norm’ in this interim period.
